Just a stone's throw from the royal palace in Brussels and within the historic pentagon of the city, you will find the 15th-century Church of Our Lady of the Sablon. A miraculous legend gave this house of worship its fame. Mary of Hungary, sister of Emperor Charles V, was baptized here in 1505 and later this church building became the beloved place of worship of Margaret of Austria, the governor of the Netherlands. Nobility and wealthy citizens were buried there with pomp and ceremony.
